How We Work

Varied opportunities, equal commitment

The people that work here at Save the Children are driven by a belief that something must be done to challenge injustice. That determination presents itself in many forms, motivating everyone whatever their role.

We work with children, communities and governments all over the world and we believe in the right person for the job regardless of where you come from and how you identify yourself. We need to keep children safe so our selection process and our expectation of staff behaviour reflects our commitment to the protection of children from abuse and exploitation.

Our UK recruitment is spilt into three categories: UK programme posts, UK Fundraising and Marketing, and London central management and support posts.

We don’t currently operate a graduate entry or trainee scheme. But if you are interested in becoming involved with Save the Children in the UK as a volunteer, visit our Volunteering and Fundraising section.

We work in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and our Global Head Office is in London.

Our work in the UK has three main strands:

1. Project initiatives and development work that includes:
  • Child Rights and empowerment projects
  • Work with groups of young people who are usually excluded from mainstream provisions
  • Development education programmes with schools and youth groups

    2. Nationwide marketing and fundraising teams delivering our ambitious income targets through major givers, individuals and our shops and volunteers.

    3. Central management and support of our worldwide programme work. There are seven Departments located at our London office:
  • International Operations
  • Policy
  • Communication & Campaigns
  • Supporter Relations & Fundraising
  • Global Finance
  • Global HR & Facilities Management
  • Global Information Systems
